MENTEE SPOTLIGHT
Present, Engaged, Unstoppable
We are proud to honor Yessina Scott, who is in her second year of our Mentoring Empowerment Program, for her dedication, participation, and growth. In December, Yessina received the award for most hours attended at YEMBA, having spent over 50 hours this school year in programming. She also received the Bumble Bee Award. This symbolic award goes to the student who, like bumble bees, chooses to fly despite all the things that can bring them down and plays a big role in our collective greater good.
COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS
Celebrating Kwanzaa in Partnership with the Oak Park Public Library
YEMBA was proud to partner with the Oak Park Public Library for the 7th annual Community Kwanzaa celebration last month. As part of the Kwanzaa market, our team sold our limited edition Dark Matter Coffee bags in addition to a limited edition Kwanzaa shirt. YEMBA alum, Aaron Brown, joined us at the event. Aaron participated in our Mentoring Empowerment Training and is currently a senior at Cornell University.
