Summer with YEMBA is in full swing! ☀️
Our summer programs are in full swing, and it's been incredible watching our students learn, grow, and make lasting memories. From exploring new skills to connecting with community partners, here's a look at what we've been up to—and what's coming next!
A Strong Start to Summer!
Our Rising 6th Grade SEP is officially underway! Students kicked off the week by getting to know one another, participating in hands-on activities, and building friendships that will last beyond the summer. With a couple more exciting weeks ahead, we can't wait to see all they'll accomplish.
Preparing for High School—and Beyond!
Our Rising 9th Grade students have been making the most of their summer by exploring what's ahead both academically and personally. This month, students had the opportunity to tour Oak Park and River Forest High School, helping them become familiar with their new campus before the first day of school. They also enjoyed an inspiring college visit to Dominican University, where they explored campus life and began imagining their own paths to higher education.
This week, students also kicked off their healthy eating workshop series with Spilt Milk Pastry, where owners Sam and Niko introduced them to nutritious snacking, entrepreneurship, and the behind-the-scenes of running a successful small business. Experiences like these help students build confidence, expand their horizons, and prepare for a successful transition into high school.

A huge thank you to the amazing organizations and community leaders helping make this summer unforgettable!
Oak Park Tennis & Fitness Centre for welcoming our students each week for pickleball and helping them stay active while learning a new sport.
Spilt Milk Pastry for opening their doors and sharing their passion for healthy eating, entrepreneurship, and community.
Byline Bank for leading engaging financial literacy workshops and equipping our students with valuable money management skills.
