JUNE 2024
PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS
2024 Mentoring Empowerment Program Commencement
We are beyond grateful to round out another year at Julian & Brooks Middle Schools! Last month, commencement ceremonies were held at each school to honor our middle school mentees in the Mentoring Empowerment Program and usher in their next chapter of personal growth! We could not be more proud of our mentees for this year of discovery, development, and dedication!
MENTEE SPOTLIGHT
Mentee of the Year
Jeremy, a now 8th grade graduate from Brooks Middle School, received the Mentee of the Year award at the 2024 Mentoring Empowerment Program Commencement for his dedication to the program. Jeremy has shown strong leadership skills, from serving as Ambassador Mentee to welcome guest speakers, to leading workshops and activities during program. We wish Jeremy all the best in his next chapter in high school. Congratulations, Jeremy!!
COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS
AMPT’s Second Annual Nonprofit Convening
Last month, YEMBA Executive Director Edward Redd attended AMPT’s second annual Nonprofit Convening. AMPT is committed to antiracist capacity building by and with black & latine nonprofits.
"This year's Nonprofit Convening brought together 80 leaders in nonprofits and philanthropy from across Chicago and doubled in size from our first gathering last May. From intentional conversations about vulnerability and making space to think differently about building capacity, our breakout sessions and small group discussions set the stage for fostering connections that can make an impact for our Black and Latine nonprofit leaders. We cannot wait to share more about what we are learning and future opportunities to engage with AMPT."
